The next model tain locomotive that I am going to review is the ROCO model of the ÖBB class 1116 electric locomotive. The model is replica of the actual Austrian Railways locomotive which celebrates the opening of the Brenner Pass railway line between Austria and Italy 150 years ago, a railway length of 275 km.

All of those years ago the achievement was that one could travel between the two countries. Today, although the railway route does have steep gradients and rather sharp curves the maximum allowed operating speed is 180km/h, thanks to the modern locomotives like the class 1116. The pictures on the locomotive depict famous locomotives that for years served the railway traffic on this line.

The Roco model will be made in three versions. A two rail conventional model, number 73239, and a two rail, 73240 and three rail 79240 variants that are fitted with digital sound decoders, controlling a range of operating sounds as well as LED headlights.
